Below is a press release from the Morris Animal Foundation – a great way to support canine cancer research!
Cru Vin Dogs Wine Releases Limited-Edition Golden Retriever Chardonnay to Benefit Morris Animal Foundation Dog Research
The Golden Retriever, one of the most popular dogs in the United States, also is the number one breed to die of cancer, with more than 60 percent dying of this dreaded disease. Now, drinking fine wine can help this breed and others fight canine cancer.
Cru Vin Dogs Wine Group, a Denver-based wine company, has released its 2006 Golden Retriever Chardonnay to benefit Morris Animal Foundation’s (MAF) Canine Cancer Campaign. MAF’s Canine Cancer Campaign is a global research effort to cure canine cancer in the next 10 to 20 years, while also developing new treatments for dogs suffering from cancer today.
Cru Vin Dogs donates a minimum of 10 percent of its revenue to three canine charities, including MAF. In 2007 the company also donated $10,000 to MAF for canine health research.
“Dogs are the foundation upon which we are building our brand, and we’re delighted to be partnering with Morris Animal Foundation to support this very important research effort,” said Cru Vin Dogs President Mary Snellgrove. “In addition to our financial contributions, we hope to help raise awareness of the work that is being done on behalf of dogs and dog lovers everywhere.”
The Golden Retriever Chardonnay label is a limited-edition, pastel pencil illustration by artist Jay P. Snellgrove. This dry wine blends Dijon selections of Chardonnay to create a rich, honeyed texture with touches of pear, toasted almonds and Meyer lemon. The cost is $16/bottle with a 10 percent discount on orders of 12 or more bottles. Also available are hand-signed and numbered Golden Retriever puppy illustrations, long-sleeved, white cotton T-shirts ($30) and blank note cards (package of six for $10). Cru Vin Dogs wines are available online and at restaurants and specialty wine shops in the Denver area and northern California.
